Well, hacking is a crime. So she accused someone of a criminal act. So the FBI is investigating. I doubt this is what Reid, and NBC, hoped for. If the FBI does discover that she was somehow hacked, a decade after her blog posts, that will put a new wrinkle on hacking. But if they do not find evidence of a hack, which is what I suspect, then she will have made false claims of criminal activity, which I suspect is itself a crime of some sort. What happens then, to her and to NBC? It looks like The Daily Beast has already pulled the plu8g on her, at least temporarily.
Reid will stay on the air, an NBC spokesperson told Politico Wednesday, while the Daily Beast will “hit pause” on her column.
