“Anyone can go to Baghdad. Real men go to Tehran.” Iran isn’t “unconquerable”

Do not get me wrong. I’m not advocating war with Iran. Nevertheless, the idea that Iran would be unconquerable is flawed.

History demonstrates that Iran, aka the old Persian Empire, is perhaps more prone to collapse than any other political entity on the planet. The vast and mighty Persian Empire collapse the first time when attacked by Alexander the Great. What was at the time one of the world’s greatest empires literally disintegrated!

About a thousand years later, the Sassanian (Persian) Empire fell, and collapsed at the hands of another much smaller attacker, namely the Arabs pushing Islam from the Arabian Peninsula.

Again, I’m not recommending war with Iran. But if I were the Iranians, I would not be all that certain about the staying power of my regime. We know that many of the Iranian population are not all that keen on the regime. Christianity is spreading among Iranians, despite the supposedly rock-solid nature of Islam, historically, and the severe effrots of the regime to punish converts (http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2017/august/christianity-is-rapidly-growing-in-iran).

Tehran, May 6, IRNA – Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said here on Sunday that a strong Iran is unconquerable.

Addressing a local gathering, Safavi said Iran has defeated US on several occasions and the Americans cannot challenge the great and prestigious Iranian nation.

Dismissing the anti-Iran documents presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the senior commander asked: ‘Who believes that the Zionist regime is not behind the assassination of our nuclear scientists?’

He added that there is evidence that Americans are seeking to transport Daesh terrorists to Afghanistan after their continued failures in Iraq and Syria.

Commander Safavi underscored that Iran has managed to foil US plots to demolish the region; hence it is natural that America should be angry with Iran.

He underscored that Iran has paid high prices for establishment of peace and tranquility in West Asia, while the US, UK and the Zionists are fanning the flames of insecurity in the region with an aim of selling their weapons and plundering the region’s natural resources.
